Q 3.30 Project #3 Group Presentation Analyze a cultural representation from the U.S. culture that illustrates cultural fusion and hybridity. 1. Topics include dance, music videos, art, literature, architecture, body art, Youtube/internet, film and television, and fashion. 2. For your presentation, each student will want to have a central argument about how your topic illustrates cultural fusion, and provide examples from your research to support your argument. 3. There are several formats you can use. You can create a PowerPoint slide show, in which each member contributes slides, or you can create a video using the "Studio" link on the left-hand side navigation bar. Here are the steps you need to take: 1. Join a group by selecting a topic you are interested in. To do this, go to the People tab on the navigation bar, select the Project #3 tab at the top, then select the group you want to join, and select "join." 2. Communicate with your canvas group by clicking on the group topic that you have joined. Discuss your research. 3. Next, find an article, book, or website about how your topic illustrates cultural fusion and hybridity using the LACC library databasesLinks to an external site. or websites with .org or .edu extensions. For example, if you are in the music group, you could research how rock music is influenced by different cultures, like blues and country music. Or if you are in the sports group, you might want to look at how the NBA is influenced by the recruitment of players from other cultures than the United States. Break your topic down into separate examples, with each group member focusing on one example. 4. Share your research with your group. 5. Each student should have at least 4 slides or a 3-minute video. There should be an introductory slide that conveys your main point or argument, and then 3 or 4 slides that convey your research using your own words. It would be good to chunk your material so the text blocks are not too dense, and you will want to balance your text with visual representations.
